Meaningful Living
Living a meaningful life is an inherent part of Logotherapy, created by Viktor Frankl, M.D., in the 1930’s. He believed that the basis for happiness is to have a sense of meaning in our everyday lives. Many people seek happiness for its own sake, and become disappointed when it is not forthcoming. When life seems meaningless our inner resources can become depleted. Choosing what is important and meaningful in our current circumstances can lead to a greater sense of well-being.
We cannot change some of the circumstances of our lives, but we can change our attitudes towards them - which Viktor Frankl called “the defiant power of human spirit to rise above those circumstances to which we feel victims”.
Everyone’s circumstances are unique, the common thread we all share is the importance of living meaningfully through our entire lifecycle. The exercises used in Logotherapy can enable us to live meaningful and fulfilling lives.
