Type Four: The Romantic
Believes that something fundamental is missing in their life. Feels a deep loss of connection, and a sense of deficiency. Has emotional depth, empathic and a creative disposition. A sense of being “special” or “different”. Yearns for an ideal love.
Type Five: The Observer
Believes the world is too demanding of them, so protects self from “intrusions” by cutting off from emotions, and detaches to observe others. Self sufficient. Keeps confidences. Knowledgeable.
Type Six The Loyal Skeptic
Believes the world is dangerous, and that people cannot be trusted. Distrusts authority. Fear expressed either by facing danger, (counter-phobic), or by avoiding danger (phobic). Is thoughtful, loyal, and can see potential pitfalls. Supports the underdog.
Type Seven: The Epicure
Believes that the world causes pain that can be escaped by placing one’s thoughts on more pleasurable experiences or plans. Ability to do multi tasking. Optimistic, fun loving, inventive.
Type Eight: The Protector
Believes the world is unfair and powerful people take advantage of the innocent. Becomes strong and powerful to gain respect. Denies personal vulnerability. Can confront and express anger easily. Larger than life personality. Is fair and courageous. Justice is important.
Type Nine: The Mediator
Believes that in order to belong it is important to blend in. Loses sense of self and personal priorities in favour of other people’s agendas. Avoids conflict in order not to be dismissed, and so is adaptive. Caring. Supportive of others.
Type 1: The Perfectionist
Believes that the world compensates good behaviour and therefore seeks love and approval by being perfect. Compares self with others and also compares with previous achievements. Corrects errors. Experiences anger, resentment and guilt towards that which is not of a high standard. Has high integrity.
Type 2: The Giver
Believes that to be loved equates to being needed. Takes pride in being needed by others. Holds the view “my need is to meet your needs”. Represses personal needs, is helpful and generous.
Type 3: The Performer
Believes being a high achiever brings love and approval. Cuts corners to accomplish tasks successfully. Self-image is very important - self-deception occurs by changing image to fit the circumstances. A natural leader. Well liked popular person.
