Some people find that one or two sessions put them on track, other people choose long term therapy for a variety of reasons. Everyone is unique, and usually knows after a series of six to eight sessions what their needs are in regard to therapy. Reviews take place regularly.
If you wish to cancel, you must give a minimum of 24 hours notice, or pay for the session. In extreme situations this has occasionally been waived.
Confidentiality is of vital importance in therapy, and is only broken if there is concern for your or someone else’s safety and well-being, when there is a legal obligation to pass information to your G.P., the police, or social services. Brief notes of sessions are made for consultation and supervision purposes.
I am registered with CCC, working in accordance with their Code of Practice, and am subject to their independent complaints procedure.

The first time we meet, I make an assessment that lasts approximately one hour, and we decide if I am the right therapist for you. Subsequent sessions last one hour.
My fee is £50 per session. I have a sliding scale for those who cannot afford the full fee.
The basis for counselling and psychotherapy is that you are the expert on your life, so I do not give advice. I enable you to re-evaluate the areas of your life, that are causing you concern, and we work together. I have trained in several therapeutic models which blend and weave through our conversations.
I usually see individuals on a weekly basis, couples and families on a two or three weekly basis. Sessions are normally held at the same time each week, with flexibility for shift workers. Some evening appointments are available.
While seeing clients my answering machine takes messages which I check regularly, and normally respond within one working day.
